He's A Loony & She's A Man

Well The Amazing Spider-Man certainly lived up to its name.

As much as I adore the Tobey Maguire films, I have to admit….I actually prefer Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man to his.

He’s so delightfully awkward & quiet; once he puts the mask on though, he becomes a wise-cracking hero, but not in a cheesy way. I think there’s a word from the internet to describe Garfield’s Peter Parker: ADORKABLE. Honestly, that cute little face, his Socially Awkward Penguin-like tendencies & his shyness with Gwen Stacy…..I was like “UUUGH STOP BEING SO CUTE I WANT TO ADOPT YOU” in my head throughout the film…

The film itself was terrific as well, backed up by some wonderfully natural acting. Emma Stone was perfection as Gwen, Rhys Ifans was believable & sympathetic as Dr. Curt Connors/The Lizard who looked a lot like Killer Croc from Batman (wouldn’t think he had a really strong Welsh accent in reality would you??), & there were also good solid performances from Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben, Sally Field as Aunt May & Denis Leary (Diego from Ice Age; DAT VOICE <3) as Captain Stacy. Humour is also in abandance; when Parker first gets his powers & doesn’t know his own strength, hilarity ensues!

Like a few of my friends, if you’re a huge fan of the previous trilogy & you’re very sceptical about this new film, just swallow your pride & go see it. You’ll be pleasantly surprised. :D
